Flow Immediately Below Submerged Sluice Gate
The velocity and pressure field immediately below a deeply submerged sluice gate located in a rectangular open channel has been experimentally investigated. A vena contracta for submerged flow has been defined and studied. The dimensionless excess pressure from the hydrostatic distribution has been evaluated, as well as the boundary layer on the bed.
