Design of Circular Concrete Tanks
The object of this paper is to present a rigorous mathematical design analysis of circular concrete tanks that is accurate for shallow tanks of rather large diameters, such as are used for settling purposes, as well as for deeper tanks of small diameter. It is shown that, by fixing the wall at the base so that the liquid pressure is divided between the circular rings and the vertical cantilevers, the magnitude of the maximum ring tension is greatly reduced.
