Physical Properties of Cement-Sodium Silicate Grout with Kaolinite
Grouting has been a substantial ground improvement technique in geotechnical engineering practice. For many years, sodium silicate grouts and a large number of chemical compounds were produced providing a wider selection for grouting. This paper presents the effect of cement, kaolinite and sodium silicate on the rheological properties of sodium silicate grout. The tests performed are for defining the mathematical behavior of the grout. Shrinkage, pH and specific gravity of cement-sodium silicate grout along with kaolinite were determined at different shear rates. The results indicate that, kaolinite and cement have crucial effect on the rheology of grout and the behavior of the sodium silicate grouts with cement and kaolinite grout is identical to the non-Newtonian fluids.
