The subject of “Lumber Rafts” is so broad that this paper has been limited to “Ocean Log- Hafts”. The Davis raft and the Benson raft are the only two types of ocean-going rafts now in practical use. The Davis raft is built by various Joggers and operators under patents held by Captain G. T. Davis. The Benson raft is now used only by the Benson Timber Company, and the Benson Lumber Company, affiliated corporations.
