George Washington Bridge: Construction of the Steel Superstructure
The erection of the towers, the cables, and the floor steel of the George Washington Bridge is described in this paper. The general characteristics of the steel superstructure are enumerated briefly, after which a detailed treatment is given of the erection methods and of the equipment. Each of the three distinct parts of the work-the towers, the cables, and the floor steelis discussed separately in the order in which the work was done.
