Field Tests of A Shale Foundation
Field tests described in this paper were conducted on the shale foundation of Possum Kingdom Dam on the Brazos River near Mineral Wells, Tex. They included time-settlement tests on various sizes of square plates, a cyclic loading test, and a series of tests to determine the effect of bond and coefficient of friction of concrete monoliths on a prepared shale foundation.
