3-D Nonlinear Seismic Response Analysis of a Double Subway Station
Many subway lines in China are located in earthquake zones, and the seismic resistance problem is particularly prominent. In seismic design, subway stations are usually three-dimensional, nonlinear, large systems. In order to understand their behavior, an actual double subway station was chosen as the object of this study. A comprehensive, three-dimensional, numerical model - including subway station structure with surrounding soil - was established and nonlinear seismic response analysis was performed. The dynamic soil-structure interaction considering interface, material nonlinearity and large deformation was included in the analysis. The following results were shown, such as the deformation and stress of the surrounding soil, the deformation and internal forces of the station structure, and the velocities and accelerations at several important locations. The possible failure locations in the subway station and their mechanisms were analyzed and discussed. Several suggestions were provided as measures of earthquake-resistant construction.
