Cost of Delays in Construction
The results of a survey designed to determine the percentage of construction cost spent for delays due to governmental regulations is presented. In addition, the corresponding average time delay is tabulated. Questionnaires were sent to all consultants appearing on The ENR 500 Consultants Compilation and to those organizations listed in The Ohio Directory. The data indicates that 30.3% of the overall yearly construction cost of projects in which The ENR 500 consultants are involved is spent for construction delays. The associated time delay due to governmental regulations is 29.9 months. The corresponding figures for The Ohio Directory consultants are 29.3% and 25.0 months, respectively.
