Long-Term Performance of Stormwater Infiltration Basins
Decentralization of stormwater management is necessary in order to achieve sustainable urban storm drainage. This research deals with evaluating long-term performance of infiltration basins by modeling their structural and environmental evolution. System modeling is carried out with a LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) point of view. In the first place, system performance is defined. Performance can not be restricted to a simple technical assessment. Sustainable infiltration basins are also environmentally friendly and socially acceptable with a good economic performance. For this reason, technical, environmental, social and economical aspects are included in this definition. Each performance will be assessed with performance indicators. This requires system modeling and on-field observations. A specific model procedure is built for each performance; it is representative of the structural evolution of the technical system.
