Effects of Fines on Static Liquefaction Potential of Sand
In Korea recently, the earthquake resistance design has been enforced on account of occurrence of earthquake even so the magnitude of earthquake is not so larger as those of Japan or China. This paper aims at scrutinizing the possibility of liquefaction by changing confining pressure, relative density and fines contents for Baekma river sand located in the middle part of Korea in order to examine the possibility of liquefaction of the foundation composed of sand. CU, CD tests and isotropic consolidation tests were performed to find out the change of emax and emin, critical confining pressure and relative density required to generate liquefaction.
