Application of GAM to a Rockfall Along Roadways
Rockfall is a common geohazard for many departments of transportation that have roadways in canyons or mountainous regions. These areas invariably have unstable natural or cut slopes in rock that generate rockfall that rolls out onto roadways, causing hazards and delays to commerce and the traveling public. Geotechnical Asset Management principles can be used to evaluate the rockfall hazards and seek and prioritize funding to mitigate these highway sections.
