Bi-Steel Steel-Concrete-Steel Sandwich Construction
Steel/concrete/steel sandwich construction combines structural efficiency with robustness, but has been difficult to construct. The Bi-SteelTM composite addresses these difficulties by using shear connectors extending from plate to plate to create semi-rigid panels. The structural behaviour of the composite is described with its relevance to design. Advantages of the system are summarised along with typical applications.
