Bridge Superstructure and Foundations in Nova Scotia
The subject of adopting concrete as a substitute for masonry in bridge work has approached such magnitude that the author cannot but be diffident of his power to treat it satisfactorily within the ordinary limits of a paper of this kind. After a few preliminary observations, he will confine his remarks to a notice of the employment of Portland cement concrete as a building material in works coming directly within the scope of his own supervision in the Province of Nova Scotia for the past 10 years, and to what may be considered cheap and effective methods for finding or providing foundations for such structures when under water.
