Evolution of the Eastside Reservoir Project
The Eastside Reservoir Project (ESRP) of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) is located about 90 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles in Riverside County, California. The new 800,000 acre-foot reservoir will double Metropolitan's surface water storage capabilities to meet seasonal, drought, and emergency needs. Metropolitan began planning the project in 1987. The project is on schedule to begin pump-fill of the reservoir in late 1999.
