Orthotropic Steel Deck Bridges Constructed in Cold Regions
This paper will give an overview of imaginative steel deck bridges currently in operation in cold regions throughout the world as an aid in the "type selection" process.. Imaginative bridges from Canada, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine and the USA were selected to demonstrate the complete range of steel bridges such as movable bridges; suspension bridges, cable stayed bridges, box girder bridges, railroad bridges, pipeline bridges and floating bridges. The advantages of steel deck bridges in cold regions will be summarized. The names of the owners, designers, fabricators, and contractors have been included to credit their success and contacts to discuss details beyond the scope of this paper. A list of 25 references is provided.
