Compressive Strength Variations of Lime-Treated Expansive Soils
The expansive soil stabilization using lime and or cement is frequently considered by geotechnical engineers in many parts of the world as an effective treatment. This study investigated the changes in strength properties for one day and seven days curing of lime-treated expansive soil from Al-Qatif in Saudi Arabia. Variations in index and geotechnical properties were studied for clays treated with 4% and 8% lime. The trends of stress–strain relationship were viewed and variations in initial tangent modulus and secant tangent modulus were reported for different lime content and curing periods. The outcome of this study is helpful in forecasting strength development within stabilized expansive soils and will help geotechnical designers assessing the stabilization efficiency.
