Experimental Study of Horizontal Wave Forces on a Double Chamber Perforated Caisson
This paper presents results of the physical experiments that were performed to investigate horizontal wave loading acting on the perforated caisson breakwater having two wave chambers. The main focus of this research was placed on evaluation of the maximum horizontal force on the porous middle wall between the two wave chambers, which was found to be on average less than half of the estimate by Goda's formula for the solid wall. This implies that the peak wave loading on the middle wall is comparatively smaller than those on the front or rear walls of the double-chamber perforated caisson.
