Model-Prototype Conformity: Hydraulic Structures
Some of the general factors involved in making model-prototype comparisons of hydraulic structures are mentioned in this paper. Reasons for desiring comparisons, the types made, the difficulties encountered, and the measurements and instruments required are discussed briefly. Citing two of the comparisons made by the Bureau of Reclamation as examples, an account is given of a small irrigation structure, and of the pressure and discharge tests on the 102-in. river outlets of the Grand Coulee Dam in the State of Washington.
