Establishing a Third-Party Inspection System of Construction Work Safety
Safety on construction sites is always a major problem in China. Recently third-party inspection receives more and more attention due to various safety-related issues involved. Based on literature review and practical field data analysis in a southern city, this paper built a third-party inspection system including construction process and management behaviour, with four hierarchies and 43 factors. A weighted-literature calculation method and an improved AHP method were adopted to determine the weights of factors. Finally, the system was implemented to inspect an ongoing construction project and a 6-point semi-quantitive method used to asses sits safety level on site. Consequently, the major safety problems of the construction site were identified, and the relevant safety management has been improved as a result. The findings also suggest that the established system is both valid and objective.
