Structural Analysis of Reciprocating Small Scale Hydropower System for Lift Force Estimation
Conventional hydropower projects are generally suitable for high flow rate or high head. However, the hydro energy from small sources of water such as streams and creeks is not harvested due to a lack of instrumentation. A reciprocating hydropower system can be used at places with low flow discharge and low head to generate energy. This paper presents theoretical and laboratory test results for the estimation and calculation of the lift force in the Reciprocating Small Scale Hydropower model. Results from a finite element analysis of the lab model done to understand the forces and responses of the structure are presented in this paper.
