Treasured Trestle
Perched on a rugged cliff beside a bay, the aging Water Street Trestle #2 in Ketchikan, Alaska, had to be replaced or residents would have lost access to essential city services. Designed to last 75 years despite the harsh Alaskan environment, the new trestle overcame a tightly confined, steep project site; variable subsurface conditions; and lengthy wet-weather seasons.
