E-Business Transformation Stages for Construction Companies
The business world is continuously changing due to the advances and developments in technology. Innovations in technology change all the industries and the way of performing business activities. E-Business (E-b) has created many advantages and opportunities for every industry. Construction is one of the most information-dependent industries. Construction companies (CCs) have to adopt the E-b applications in order to survive in business environment in the future. However, before entering into E-b, CCs should follow some basic steps in order to achieve a successful transformation. In this study, these necessary steps have been examined. An e-readiness assessment for CCs has been presented. Furthermore, an application of this assessment has been carried out among eight leading Turkish construction contractors that are operating within the international construction market. The main objective of this study was to determine whether these firms are entered into E-b world or ready for E-b transformation.
