Thixotropic Properties of Mastics Incorporates Secondary Filler
Thixotropy of bituminous binders and/or mastics has a great effect on the overall performance of binders and subsequently on mixtures. Specific effect can be noticed on fatigue, healing, and high-temperature performances. This highlights the importance of clear thought for binder thixotropy, which is still at early stages. Moreover, thixotropy of mastics has not been investigated before. This paper presents a study on thixotropy of two mastics containing different types of fillers. These mastics are tested by using dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), and results are modelled. The results show that the exponential thixotropy model of bituminous mastics can be established by using DSR. Moreover, it can reasonably reflect the thixotropic properties of the tested mastics.
