Comparison between a Detailed Model and Two Simplified Models in Urban Stormwater Quality Simulation
This study proposes a comparison between three models able to simulate stormwater quality characteristics: the SWMM (Storm Water Management Model), the UPSIM (Urban Pollution SIMulator) and the COSMOSS (Conceptual Simplified Model for Sewer System Simulation). They are representative of different degrees of simplification. The models have been calibrated and validated using experimental data acquired in two Italian catchments: Parco d'Orleans, in Palermo and Fossolo, in Bologna and Milijakovac catchment in Belgrade (Yugoslavia). Comparisons have been made among the hydrographs and pollutographs obtained using the models and the measured ones. The results of this comparison, the limits and potentialities of the three models, especially regarding their calibration, have been outlined and discussed.
