A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This study develops a new hydraulic design procedure for curb-opening inlets from experimental data and theory. The results are presented in diagrammatic form for practical use. Experiments generally covered supercritical regimes, and observed water surface profiles, for which the interception ratio of curb-opening inlets to main street discharge can be presented by dimensionless parameters related to length of curb-opening inlets, Froude Number, and width of spread. A derived expression for the length of the curb-opening inlets is compared with experimental results.
