Interaction of Structural Engineers and Wind Engineers on Project 2000
Several recent projects for high-rise building designs by the Chicago office of Thornton-Tomasetti Engineers (T-T) involve significant collaboration between the structural engineer and the wind engineering consultants. One of these projects is "Project 2000", a mixed use development to be proposed for Chicago, Illinois. This paper is intended to illustrate the importance of wind tunnel consulting in the design of tall buildings, particularly the value in the initial design phases of a project.
