Strain Path Research of a Hypoplastic Constitutive Model for Cohesionless Soil
The stress-strain relation of cohesionless soil can be modeled with hypoplastic constitutive model, in which the magnitude and direction of stress increment depend on not only the previous stress state, but also the bulk and direction of current strain increment. The parameters of this model can be determined conveniently by simple triaxial test and oedometer. For convenient analysis, principle strain mode of this model can be turned into the pattern of strain path. By means of this pattern, strain path analysis is done in simple loading manner and complex stress state, which include oedometric compression, triaxial extension and triaxial compression under drained condition etc. Preliminary results show that hypoplastic model can well consider the effect of stain path. Finally, the paper probes into physical implication of strain path and its merits and demerits.
