Transition to Practice: A Construction Engineering Capstone Course
The capstone course for a Construction Engineering and Management degree program was developed to meet both ABET requirements for accreditation and industry demands for construction engineers. This paper describes an approach to the capstone course experience which includes significant industry interaction, uses state-of-the-art tools for estimating, planning and scheduling, and prepares the young engineer for a wide range of positions within the construction industry by providing the student with the tools and understanding required to succeed in practice.
