Rapid Transit and Terminal Freight Facilities —
At the regular meeting held September 3d, 1874, it was— “Resolved, That a committee of five members of this Society be appointed by the President, to investigate the necessary conditions of success, and to recommend plans for- First.—The best meaus of rnpid transit for passengers, and Second.—The best and cheapest methods of delivering, storing and distributing goods and freight, in and about the city of New York, with instructions to examine plans, and to receive suggestions such as parties interested in the matter may choose to offer, and to report on or before the first day of December, 1874.”
