Capillary Phenomena in Cohesionless Soils
This paper explains the fundamentals of capillarity in cohesionless soils, by first describing analogies in capillary tubes and then presenting data from soil tests to substantiate the conclusions drawn from the analogies. A number of theoretical methods, in common use, for computing the rate of flow of water under the influence of capillarity are investigated and evaluated. I~provements in several of these theories are suggested.
