Wind Velocities during Hurricanes
The structure of hurricanes, the duration of hurricane-force winds, and the distribution of wind velocity in hurricanes are investigated in the paper. The variation of wind velocity with height and the probability of hurricane occurrence are also examined. The author presents examples of the highest measured velocities and estimates of the highest velocity winds ever observed in the United States.
