Cost of Energy Generation: Hydro-Generated Energy
This paper presents an analysis of the plant characteristics and elements of cost of hydro-generated energy based upon an investigation and study of data regarding fifty-seven hydro-plants scattered throughout the United States. Attention is given particularly to hydro plants in power systems where hydro and steam power are complementary in u se, and a method of evaluating such hydro-power costs is suggested, which takes into account both energy and capacity values.
Some of the larger Federal hydro-projects are also discussed and compared in cost with those of private utility companies and a brief survey is made of water- power resources not as yet developed.
