Research on Static and Seismic Stability of High Rock Slopes in Hydropower Stations
Numerical methods and rigid block limit equilibrium methods for rock slope analysis are introduced and the evaluation methods of static and seismic stability are discussed. Combined with an application example, the stability of a complex high rock slope in a hydropower station is evaluated under static and seismic loads, which is located in southwest China. With several analysis methods, the general stability of the slope with several blocks is first analyzed, then the stability for a key block is further studied. The results obtained by different methods are compared, and the causes of the difference between the results are explained. the research results show that the safety factors of the slope under the action of gravity and earthquake are less than that requried and some strengthening measures should be taken.
