Thicknesses of Concrete Pavements for Highways
The most widely used method of determining the thickness of portland cement concrete pavements for highways is based on wheel loads placed at the corners of the slabs. This paper presents data which indicate that the longitudinal-edge loading position is really the critical loading position when the restrained-warping stresses and lateral distribution of vehicles across the traffic lanes are considered.
