Investigation of the Effect of Wind on Nettings
Use of debris netting or screens is required by building codes and construction regulations in dense urban areas. There are no available calculations methods to assess the effect of wind on such fabrics. Following a series of accidents, wind tests were performed to assess the percentage of exposed netting area to be used in calculations. New York City Building Department design requirements were amended to include the results.
