Research and Application Review on CFRP Cables for Cable-stayed Bridges
For its excellent characteristics, such as light weight, high strength, good corrosion resistance and outstanding fatigue resistance, the CFRP cables will find wide application for future cable-stayed bridges. The state of arts of the research and application of CFRP cables is presented. A few pioneer cable-stayed bridges with CFRP cables are listed and the first cable-stayed bridge with CFRP cables is briefly introduced. The properties and advantages of CFRP cables are expounded. Some existing problems of CFRP cables, especially anchorage, are discussed. In the end, the prospects of some essential areas to be researched on CFRP cables are previewed.
