Carmel Valley Creek Bridge Project in San Diego
As a part of the Route 5 improvement between the Route 5/805 junction and Del Mar Heights Road in San Diego it is proposed to construct Carmel Valley Creek, Bridge No. 57C-0589. The site of the proposed bridge is on a city road named Sorrento Valley Road at Carmel Valley Creek in the City and County of San Diego approximately 3.5 kilometers north of the junction of Routes 5 and 805. The alignment of this structure is designated as .SVR. line. The structure will be located immediately downstream of the bridge no. 57-1062 (South Bound I-5 bridge) crossing the Carmel Valley Creek. The proposed new bridge will replace the existing RCB culvert under the Sorrento Valley Road. The existing culverts do not have the capacity to accommodate even a flood of 5 to 10 years of frequency. Immediately downstream of the RCB culverts under Sorrento Valley Road is located Bridge No. 57-0989F (Route 56/5 Separation) crossing Carmel Valley Creek. Figures 1 and 2 show the general location of the proposed structure relative to the surrounding structures.
