Simplified Analysis for Flexible Retaining Walls
Based on the theory of beams on elastic foundation with consideration of the soil properties being extended to include ealstoplastic behavior, this paper presents a simplified method for the analysis of strutted or anchored flexible retaining walls of foundation pit. An incremental analysis approach is established to simulate properly the construction sequence of excavation and strut or tieback stressing. Numerical results show that the proposed method can capture the displacements of retaining wall more accurately than the beams on elastic foundation method.
