Application of Blasting Method in Excavation of Road Cut in Permafrost
Blasting is one of the effective excavating methods for permafrost. It can provide a number of volumes of frozen soil for earthmoving machinery in a shorter time. The principles, kept on the construction of road cut in permafrost, to protect frozen soil and reduce the thaw-frozen disturbance are expounded. Combined with an engineering practice this paper introduces the application of blasting method in road cut for Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Base the crater tests of short hole pocket shot, short and deep holes, the reasonable the drilling machinery, spacing parameters, explosive consumption by volume and blasting scale for the excavation of road cut in permafrost is decided, and the smooth blasting was used. In additional, the construction of road cut including the temporary protection of insulation work drainage is set forth. It provides a reference for the similar engineering in the future.
