Slackwater Improvement of the Columbia River
Navigation on the Columbia River and its tributaries is vital to the economy of the Columbia River basin. This paper presents a description and history of the basin and describes the effects of the many slackwater improvement projects in this area. It is concluded that great economic benefits are yielded by navigational improvements in this basin, and that coordination with other water uses and with other forms of transportation is feasible.
