A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A new concept of flow over rough pipe and channel surfaces is presented. The concept is based particularly on the effect of the longitudinal spacing of surface-roughness elements and their associated vorticity streams. Three basic flow types have been denoted as isolated-roughness flow, wake-interference flow, and quasi-smooth (or skimming) flow.
