Computing Coagulant Requirements in Sludge Conditioning
The practice of partly dewatering sewage sludges in continuous vacuum filters is relatively recent. The procedure for estimating the initial cost of such an installation for different types of sludges is comparatively simple. It involves estimating the tons of sludge solids to be disposed of during each operating day and the capacity and dimensions of the component mechanical elements of the filtration equipment. The mathematical basis for the latter factors has been supplied by rather extensive experience with such equipment.
