Stresses In Wedge-Shaped Reinforced Concrete Beams
In a, recent paper by William Cain, M. Am. Soc. C. E., entitled “Stresses in Wedge-Shaped Reinforced Concrete Beams”, there were enunciated formulas for computing the maximum compressive stresses in concrete, as well as the maximum tension in steel. These formulas, together with the assumptions underlying them, are of such a nature as to lend themselves to a critical study which, the writer thinks, may not be entirely devoid of interest.
