Destruction of Rails by Excessive Weights
In the Report of the Committee presented at this Convention, there are carefully engraved diagrams of the cross-sections of sixteen pairs of rails, much worn by use. The sections were taken with a view of shedding light upon the proper radius for the corners of rail-head and the flange fillet of wheels. The significance of the diagrams for the purpose intended is very marked, but they convey a lesson of still more definite import in another respect.
