A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The project forms one of a number of strategic and research development programmes within the Dublin Institute of Technology. It deals with the layout, design and production of pre-stressed Hollowcore slabs. Software modules are being developed which will integrate this type of pre-cast floor design into one package. The project began with a comparison of various codes of practice currently in use, together with the new eurocode EC2 for concrete design. It has now been extended to interact with CAD files of floor layouts and database files storing information on the floor geometry.
