Evaluation of the Performance of Biofiltration Plants
High-rate filters are devices for the biological treatment of sewage. However, design data for the average municipal filtering plant have been developed primarily on an empirical basis rather than on a theoretical basis. An analysis of operating data from selected biofiltration plants shows that measures of performance can be defined that are applicable to the economical design of new plants and that allow for predicting results with considerable assurance.
