Pressure Surges in Pump Installations
There is described herein the method of water-hammer analysis and control used in the design for the condition of power failure at the pump motors of the Tracy Pumping Plant near Tracy, Calif. A summary of the major features of this installation is included, and a comparison between the observed and computed transient effects is made. Useful charts for obtaining the approximate water-hammer effects caused by a power failure in any pump discharge line without control valves are also presented.
