A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
As globalization expands the arenas in which civil engineers practice, the construction techniques employed in many developing nations will require thorough evaluation. The construction operations prevalent in Pakistan, for instance, are partially to blame for the high number of fatalities that resulted from the October 2005 earthquake there, and if the global engineering community is to provide assistance in the rebuilding effort, vast improvements must be made in these operations, especially with respect to concrete construction.
