Pavement Bearing Capacity Computed by Theory of Layered Systems
This paper describes a method for calculating the bearing capacity of rigid and flexible pavements, which is based on the theory of layered elastic systems. Graphs are presented from which the required pavement thickness can be obtained directly, if the loading and the physical properties of the pavement and subgrade materials are known; It is shown how these stresses can be allowed for in cohesive and in cohesionless soils.
