Seismic Response of a Real Basin Site Considering Topography Effect and Nonlinear Characteristic of Soil
Based on the explicit FE method and 32 CPU parallel computing cluster platform of ABAQUS, and considering the inhomogeneity of ground soils and concave-convex fluctuation of topography and bedrock surface, large-scale refined two-dimensional (2D) FE nonlinear analytical models for Fuzhou Basin were established in the time domain. Seismic responses of the basin site considering topography effect and nonlinear characteristic of soil are studied. Compared with one-dimensional (1D) analysis models by equivalent linearization wave propagation method that takes no account of the topography effect, the 2D models indicated that there is a focusing effect caused by the fluctuant bedrock surface and topography. The acceleration response spectra present a double- or multi-peak phenomena. The response amplitudes and predominant period are relatively larger than the 1D model; besides, the PGA displays a non-monotonic decreasing characteristic with depth and a greater focusing effect of some particular soil. The 2D models have a better ability to simulate the magnification effect of low frequency components of earthquake wave.
